A hollow section is a square or rectangular structural product with a closed cross section, produced by cold forming sheet and welding it longitudinally. Its closed profile provides balanced strength about both axes; its light weight, weldability and clean appearance make it one of the most widely consumed products in the metalworking sector. At Atakaş Demir Çelik we supply hollow sections from stock in square sizes from 20x20 to 200x200 and rectangular sizes from 30x20 to 200x100, with black, galvanized and cold rolled base material options. We offer cutting to project length and packaging services.
In hollow sections, wall thickness is a more decisive cost and strength parameter than size: the difference between 40×40×1.5 and 40×40×2.0 means roughly a one-third increase in weight per metre, but markedly raises buckling and impact resistance. Since the inside of a closed section cannot be reached, sealing the ends by welding or choosing galvanized feedstock extends service life in outdoor structures. It is also worth remembering that corner radius affects weld and connection details. For stock items we deliver with cut-to-length, bundling and labelling, ready for direct use on site.
Because the combination of sizes and wall thicknesses is very wide, we also offer the closest alternatives from our stock list before quoting. This approach lets you complete the project on time instead of waiting for rare sizes. On high-volume orders we arrange the bundle sequence to match your erection order, so the first bundle off the truck is the first item you use on site.
