Pickled and oiled sheet is a flat steel product obtained by passing hot rolled coil through a pickling line to remove the mill scale from its surface, then oiling it. It combines the high strength of hot rolled steel with a surface quality close to that of cold rolled products. Because the surface is free of scale, welding, bending and painting require no additional surface preparation — saving both time and cost in production. Pickled and oiled sheet strikes a strong balance between the cost of hot rolled product and the cleanliness of cold rolled material. On tube and section lines, a scale-free surface raises weld seam quality and reduces roll wear during coil feeding. For forming-intensive work DD11 is the general-purpose choice and DD13 suits parts needing tougher bends and deeper forms, while strength grades such as S355JR are preferred for load-bearing sections. The protective oil film applied after pickling preserves the surface throughout storage; even so, we recommend stocking it in a covered, ventilated area to guard against moisture condensation.
On tube and section lines, matching strip width and coil weight to your equipment has a direct effect on efficiency. Once you share your line data we work out the slitting plan that requires the least extra cutting and propose a stock programme based on your annual requirement.
