Wire rod, the raw material of the wire and fastener industry — in coils from 5.5 to 16 mm diameter.
Wire rod is a round-section steel product manufactured by hot rolling billet and wound into coils. As the basic raw material of the wire drawing industry, it is the starting point of a very wide product range extending to nails, screws, bolts, welding electrodes, fencing wire and springs. It is produced in low, medium and high carbon classes according to carbon content. At Atakaş Demir Çelik we supply wire rod in coils in the common diameters from 5.5 mm to 16 mm, in the requested grades — primarily SAE 1006, 1008 and 1010.
Wire drawing efficiency depends largely on the surface and internal quality of the wire rod: laps and decarburisation on the surface cause breaks during drawing and stop the line. For that reason, softness and ductility come to the fore in low-carbon classes (SAE 1006–1008), while chemical homogeneity matters most in medium and high-carbon classes. Coil weight and inner diameter must suit your pay-off equipment; sharing this before ordering avoids setup losses on your line. We dispatch coils secured with binding wire and tags, together with the chemical analysis report.
Because changing grade causes setup losses on drawing lines, we aim to maintain continuity from the same mill and grade for long-term customers. On first orders we recommend verifying line compatibility with a trial lot. When coil diameters change, we plan transition lots with you to reduce scrap and send the analysis report separately for each lot.
